More Than Four Million Deaths Worldwide from Coronavirus

Since the start of the pandemic, more than four million people have died worldwide from being infected with the coronavirus. This is according to data from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.

The number of confirmed corona deaths has risen from three to four million in just under three months.

Worldwide, there have been about 185 million confirmed infections with the virus so far, the university reports. But the true number of infections and deaths is widely believed to be even higher.

Official data from the World Health Organization (WHO) show slightly lower figures for the time being. According to the WHO, there have been 3.98 million deaths and nearly 184 million confirmed infections so far.

The most deaths have been counted in the US so far: more than 605,000 people have died after corona infections. Brazil follows in second place with 525,000 deaths, India is in third place with more than 400,000 deaths. These three countries, therefore, account for a third of all deaths.
