Apple Charges A Lower Commission of 15 Percent for the First Time
Apple started charging a lower commission earlier than expected. The change applies to smaller developers who have less than a million dollars per year through the App Store.
From the beginning of next year, developers with a turnover of up to a million dollars a year will no longer have to reimburse a 30 percent commission on their turnover from the App Store, but 15 percent.
To be eligible, developers can sign up for the App Store Small Business Program.
Officially, the change will only take effect on January 1, 2021. Tech site AppleInsider reports, however, that several developers are already paying less commission.
Yet, the change has not yet been executed for all developers.
