US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo boarded the first official scheduled flight from Israel’s Tel Aviv to Sudan’s capital Khartoum on Friday.

 

“You are now boarding a historic flight,” Pompeo was told before the flight. Israel and Sudan have no diplomatic ties.

The flight is a sign of a changing attitude towards Israel from multiple Islamic countries, such as Sudan and previously the United Arab Emirates.

Pompeo called on countries in the Middle East on Monday to improve ties with Israel.
