US Expert Anthony Fauci: Too Early to Relax Restrictions

The director of the United States National Institute of Infectious Diseases Anthony Fauci warns that the stringent measures due to the coronavirus cannot yet be relaxed.

Despite cautiously positive numbers, it’s too early for that, according to the doctor.

“We are now seeing positive signals. We are still waiting for powerful indicators that we are on the right track,” Fauci told CNN.

“What we don’t want is to cancel lockdown measures too early and then return to the same situation later. Now is not the time to relax the measures.”

The United States is one of the most affected countries by the coronavirus.

About 468,000 people are infected, and nearly 17,000 people have died from the virus. New York City, in particular, has a lot of infections.
