Turkish Abdulalim Muaini was rescued after 48 hours from the rubble of the strong earthquake. His wife, next to whom he lay, did not survive. His two daughters are also deceased.

As rescuers shined flashlights along the rubble, Muaini looked at them and held out his hand. He was then pulled from the rubble together with his wife Esra and daughters Mahsen and Besira.

All three were already dead. Muaini was placed on the ground for medical attention, just a few feet away from his wife and daughters, who were covered.
