Police arrested more than 100 participants in an anti-lockdown demonstration in London. The protesters marched through the streets in the capital on Thursday evening chanting slogans such as “freedom”.

“There is no excuse for people to break the rules designed to prevent the coronavirus from spreading further,” police said Friday morning.

There has been a partial lockdown in England since Thursday. People are not allowed to leave their home for four weeks except for urgent reasons, such as work or a visit to the doctor.

All unnecessary shops must be closed, but schools and universities can remain open.

The United Kingdom has the highest number of corona deaths in Europe. The number of infections has now reached over a million.
