China imposes restrictions on all US diplomats in China and Hong Kong. The move is in response to US measures against Chinese embassy personnel announced early this month.

 

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not specified the measures.

Last week, Washington said Chinese diplomats must get approval from the State Department before they can visit college campuses or hold cultural events with more than 50 people outside the embassy grounds.

Relations between the world’s two largest economies have deteriorated in recent months, with both sides vehemently blaming trade disputes, human rights and the origins of the coronavirus pandemic.
