French Government Under Fire for Slow Vaccination Program
In France, criticism is growing about the pace at which people are vaccinated against the coronavirus.
In the first three days of the vaccination campaign, fewer than 100 people were reported to have been vaccinated, while in Germany tens of thousands of people were injected.
Vaccination is a sensitive issue in France. Ipsos Global Advisor’s recent poll shows that 40 percent of the French population wants to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.
That percentage is much higher in China (80 percent), the United Kingdom (77 percent) and the United States (69 percent).
France, like other EU countries, uses the corona vaccine from Pfizer and BioNtech.
The government gives priority to protecting residents of nursing homes. Some experts criticize the implementation of that policy, and also social media is grumbled.
