Twitter Stops Live Streaming Platform Periscope
Twitter plans to pull the plug on its Periscope Livestream platform in March.
There are fewer and fewer users, making it no longer financially sustainable to keep the service, the company says.
“We’ve seen a decline in usage over the past two years and know that costs will only increase over time,” Twitter said in a blog post.
“The fact is that the Periscope application has been in an untenable maintenance mode for some time now.”
Twitter bought Periscope in 2015. The application will no longer be available for download from March. The essential functions will be integrated into Twitter.
